Braided Lemon Bread (23)
This dough was pretty straight forward to make, but the braiding on the first loaf took me a minute to figure out. The 2nd loaf was quick and easy, once I knew what I was doing.
The curd ruptured out the top on one part of the loaf, but that didn't bother me. It still tasted delicious. The interior texture was so moist from the yogurt, even when perfectly cooked. It was not too sweet (only 2 tsp. sugar in the whole dough, plus what's in the yogurt). The cream cheese and sour cream in the filling were the perfect texture, and amount. It didn't prevent the surrounding bread from cooking (which is what often happens with fillings). Of course, I love all things lemon, especially a good curd. It was the best sweet bread I've eaten in a while.
When I make this again (definitely when, not if), I don't think I'd change a thing. We all loved it. Except for Dustin. Who doesn't really like lemon. So maybe I will change something next time--one loaf lemon curd, one loaf raspberry jam.
